History

Muslim Friends of Florida (MFF) dba Islamic Association of Treasure Coast, was established and registered as a non-profit 501(c) in 1972 in the State of Florida, USA to serve the needs of the Muslim community of the Treasure Coast. The center had a humble beginnings and moved from various locations to the current facility on US Highway 1, Fort Pierce, Florida. It took more than a decade effort to build IATC center at the current location with a core group of members under the leadership of Dr. Abdul Rauf Shadani, Dr. Liaquddin Shaikh and Dr. Ahmad Rashid, persisting in their efforts, despite great odds with help from the broader community, Fort Pierce City and St. Lucie County officials and others which came to fruition in June 2015 with celebration of first Ramadan in this center.

The 22000 sq.ft double storied building (previously a commercial building) is not just a mosque (built over 6000sq.ft.), but will be Inshallah a dynamic cultural center that is designed to serve the Muslim community of Treasure Coast including St.Lucie, Indian River, Martin and Okeechobee counties. The Islamic Association of Treasure Coast (IATC) now houses a prayer area, but future plans include a multipurpose space for various events including but not limited to interfaith, non-profit, cultural & educational.
