Message from Executive Community

As-salaam alaikum,
Islam is an Abrahamic monotheistic religion teaching that there is only one God (Allah), and that Muhammad is a messenger of God. It is the world’s second-largest religion with over 1.8 billion followers. It is the fastest growing religion in the world with a simple message of worshiping only one God. Islam teaches that God is merciful, all-powerful, and unique, and has guided mankind through prophets, revealed scriptures and natural signs.

Islamic Association of Treasure Coast (IATC) serves the muslims of Treasure Coast area which includes St. Lucie County, Martin County, Indian River County and muslims of Okeechobee county. The Islamic Association of Treasure Coast (IATC) is diverse in its membership with some local Muslims having roots from East Asian countries, Arab countries, some African American with few converts from a multitude of backgrounds. The mosque is open for the five daily prayers and holds services on Fridays. We have a full-time Imam (scholar/clergy), Imam Derrick Peat.

IATC “Sunday School” focuses primarily on mosque based education. The Sunday School is in session every Sunday, except scheduled holidays, from 10:30 AM to 1:30pm. In it we look to provide to our community with a spiritual and ethical framework directly rooted out of the Islamic tradition by which we may thrive as Muslims in our everyday lives.

We look to coordinate recreational activities underpinned by Islamic principles and spirituality with the intention of nurturing moral vibrancy, God consciousness, selflessness, sacrifice and other prophetic characteristics. We also provide mentorship programming, tutoring, counseling, interfaith dialogue and dawah

The Sunday school also includes classes for adults, youth and children. We also have a Friday evening lecture by Imam Derrick with a community organized dinner the first Friday of every month. Ramadan month is observed with daily community Iftar/dinner at the mosque with Taraweeh prayers (reading of the Quran).

Our Imam, Ahmad Derrick Peat is also very active in community outreach promoting peace, dialogue between local Muslims and the Treasure coast community at large. We also host the students from Indian River Community College couple of times a year to help understanding of the religion of Islam. The Islamic Association is a vibrantly diverse, welcoming community that finds that Treasure Coast to be a great place to live. We look forward to meeting you!
